Find the note you wrote in March.
Kajero is a notes app for your Mac. Press ⌥Space in any app and write. Kajero suggests where the note belongs, and weeks later you ask in your own words and get it back.

The problem
You wrote it down. Ten minutes before the call, you can't find it.
Everything goes into one pile
Apple Notes opens fast, so everything goes in: call notes, ideas, the command you'll need again. A few hundred notes later, most of it sits in a folder called Misc, or in no folder at all.
Search wants the exact words
You remember what the note was about, not how you phrased it. So search finds nothing, or a list of hundreds.
Bigger apps want a decision first
Notion and Obsidian ask for a database, a folder or a template before you've finished the thought. If you tried them, you probably drifted back to Apple Notes.
How it works
Three keys between a thought and finding it again.
Hold ⌘ on this page to see every shortcut. The app works the same way.
Write it down from any app
A small panel opens over whatever you're doing. Type, press ⌘↵, and you're back where you were. The note waits in your Inbox.
Kajero suggests where it goes
It reads the note and your existing folders and tags, then suggests a title, a folder and tags. Press ↵ to accept, or pick something else first.
Ask in your own words
Weeks later, type your question the way you'd ask a colleague. Kajero answers from your notes and shows which note the answer came from.
Find it again
Ask the way you remember it.
You remember that it was about Meier, sometime in spring, something about two phases. Kajero can work with that.
Every answer shows its source
Numbered sources sit under the answer. Press 1 and the note opens, so you can read what you actually wrote.
Dates count
Ask about last week or about March, and Kajero looks at the notes from that time.
Plain search, too
Type a word in ⌘K and it searches titles and text across all your notes at once, with or without AI.
Capture
Write the thought down before you know where it belongs.
⌥Space opens the capture panel over any app, full-screen ones included, with the cursor already in the text field.
Back to work in one keystroke
⌘↵ saves to the Inbox and returns you to the app you came from. Saving never waits for the AI.
File it with one key
The suggestion sits right on the note in the Inbox. ↵ files it, Esc leaves it there for later, and Undo brings it back.
Code stays code
Paste a shell command and it lands in a code block with highlighting, exactly as you copied it. Kajero leaves what you type as you typed it, and text from Notion, Google Docs or a web page keeps its headings and lists.
AI
AI that asks before it changes anything.
Every change the AI makes arrives as a suggestion you accept or reject. Every note keeps its history, so any earlier version is one key away.
Suggestions in the text
Ask it to shorten or fix a paragraph. New words show in colour, removed words are struck through, and nothing changes until you accept.
Filing waits for you
Kajero never moves a note on its own. A filed note goes back to the Inbox with one click.
History for every note
Each save and each AI change is a version with its author. Open yesterday's version and press R to bring it back.
Or switch it off
Without AI, Kajero is a complete notes app: writing, folders, search, import and export.
On your Mac
Your notes stay on your Mac, and you pay once.
Download it, open it, write. There's no account to create.
On your Mac, offline too
Notes live in a database on your Mac. Kajero backs them up every day and keeps the last 14 backups.
AI with your own key, or none
Use a key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or OpenRouter, or a model that runs on your Mac with Ollama. Notes go only to the provider you pick, never to us. Keys stay in the macOS Keychain.

FAQ
Questions
Is there an iPhone app?
Not yet. Kajero is for your Mac today, so on the iPhone you keep using Apple Notes. An iPhone app with sync is planned; there's no date yet.
Does Kajero sync between my Macs?
Not yet. Notes stay on the Mac you write them on. Sync comes with the iPhone app. Your license already covers all your Macs.
Apple Notes is free. Why would I pay?
You can try everything free for 14 days, and after that writing, reading, search and export stay free for good. The €29 license adds the AI parts: filing suggestions for your Inbox, questions with sources in ⌘K, and suggestions in the text. You pay once, for all your Macs and every 1.x update.
Can I keep using Apple Notes?
Yes. Kajero leaves Apple Notes alone, so you can use both: Kajero on the Mac for what you'll want to find again, Apple Notes on your phone.
How do I bring my notes over from Apple Notes?
Today, export your notes from Apple Notes as Markdown and choose File › Import Folder in Kajero; subfolders and images come along. A one-step Apple Notes import with folders and dates is coming soon.
Who sees my notes when I use AI?
Only the AI provider you choose. Kajero sends the text a feature needs straight from your Mac to that provider, with your own key, and shows you which notes it sent. With a local model in Ollama, nothing leaves your Mac. We never receive your notes; there's no Kajero server in between.
Do I need an API key?
For the AI parts, yes: a key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or OpenRouter. A local model in Ollama needs no key. Signing in with your ChatGPT account is coming soon. Until you connect a provider, AI stays off.
Is Kajero built with Electron?
Yes, Kajero is an Electron app. It uses the macOS menu bar, the Keychain for your API keys and a capture panel that appears over full-screen apps, and every action has a keyboard shortcut.
What happens after the trial?
Writing, reading, folders, search, import and export keep working for free. The AI parts and the command line tool need a license. Your notes are never locked.
Can I get my notes out?
Yes, whenever you like. Export a note, a folder or a whole workspace as Markdown files with their images.

For developers
Your notes in the terminal, and for your agents.
The kajero command line tool searches, reads and exports notes, and it includes an MCP server. Claude Code, Cursor or Codex get the workspaces you grant and nothing else. Their changes appear in Agent activity with their name and a Revert button. Kajero is open source under AGPL-3.0, and building it yourself is free.
